Testimonial for Theresa Arnold
I had the pleasure of knowing and working professionally with Ms. Theresa Arnold for over a decade while practising in London, UK.
My initial interest in her work stemmed from its applications within reconstructive plastic surgery. From the outset, I found her to be exceptionally professional. I was deeply impressed by her bedside manner, as well as by her knowledge and technical skill — and I am not easily impressed.
Over a number of years, I observed her approach cases of varying complexity with careful judgement and confidence. I had no hesitation in recommending a number of patients into her care. Her specialty represents a rare combination of art and science that is seldom seen.
I was genuinely sorry to see her leave the UK when she returned to practice in Australia and San Francisco.

ABOUT ELAINE
My name is Elaine Sassoon, I am a Consultant Plastic Surgeon working at the Spire Norwich Hospital.
I was educated at Harvard University, USA and attended medical school at University College Hospital in London. I am board certified in Plastic Surgery in the UK so hold the FRCS(Plast) intercollegiate qualification.
At all stages of my training and career I took every opportunity to learn from the best surgeons worldwide. During my fellowship in the USA I won the prestigious Gaspar Anastasi Award for aesthetic surgery. As a consultant in the NHS I pioneered breast reconstruction operations and devoted much time to setting up a world renowned breast reconstruction unit in Norfolk. We even carried out some operations for “Botched up Bodies” at the NNUH.
My practice is now solely at Spire and consists mainly of breast cases, often complex ones such as revision surgery, unequal breast symmetrisation, breast reductions and lifts, but also abdominoplasties, arm reductions, labiaplasties and non surgical facial rejuvenation with natural fillers and fat (the liquid face lift). It also involves the aesthetic removal of small lesions, warts, moles, cysts and some skin cancers and the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) of the armpits. I always strive to give a straightforward honest opinion of options available for treatment, with a clear discussion of the risks involved and what is required to optimise the surgical outcome. I view our relationship as a partnership and will remain with you through the first year or so of healing after surgery.
Professional Affiliations
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as a Corresponding Member of the Aesthetic Society (USA). I am a proud member of the Board of BAAPS Support.
In the past I chaired the Breast Subcommittee of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, represented the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPS now BAPRAS) to the BAPS / BASO Interface Committee which decides breast cancer management policies. I also worked on two NICE guidelines on behalf of BAPRAS, in particular the guideline on early breast cancer which gave the right to women to the most appropriate breast reconstruction even if not available locally. I am registered with the General Medical Council.
Other Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Honours) from Harvard, a Master’s in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics (merit) and a Diploma in Journalism from the London School of Journalism (Honours).
