I have been in clinical practice for 34 years and 17 years in private practice, having treated over 20K private patients from all over Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and interstate. I continue to enjoy all aspects of plastic surgery. I am very grateful to all my staff and the affiliated hospitals for allowing me to indulge in this pleasure. I have an interest is oncoplastic surgery, in the treatment and management of epithelial lining cancers primarily in the skin, hand, breast and the head & neck surgery.

I completed my education in Dublin, Ireland and graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1988.

I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. My higher degrees are a Masters of Surgery by thesis MChir 1993 (equivalent to a MD) in breast cancer from University College Dublin and a Dean’s List PhD in Plastic Surgery from the University of Queensland 2007.

I started plastic surgery after general surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin in 1993. In 1996, Canniesburn Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland. I completed a fellowship in Head & Neck Fellowship and Hand Fellowship in Brisbane subsequently. I am grateful to all my mentors and work colleagues through Ireland, Scotland, England and USA. I would love to hear from anyone of you.

A NHMRC cancer research fund started my PhD in Plastic Surgery. This research on how epithelial lining cancers spread started my cellular molecular career in understanding the cell cycle, cellular immortality and senescence. I was awarded a Dean’s List PhD with the University of Queensland in 2007.

My interests remain on understanding how cancer spreads (metastasis), healing, scarring, reconstruction by regeneration, the cell cycle and ageing. In scarring, I have evolved to non-surgical treatment of Duputren’s, Ledderhose’s and Peyronie’s disease.

Together with my clinical work I also consults for several biotechnology agencies in translating laboratory findings to clinical practice as in the treatment of cancer and longevity.
